All About Boys: Coming soon to a blog near you…

AAB logoA few weeks ago a few IG friends and I were chatting about how sad it was that there were all these cute, adorable things for girls and sometimes boys get left out in the cold. If you’ve been around here for any length of time you’ve probably heard me rant about that sometime or other. ๐Ÿ™‚ But really, it does seem like girls get a lot of the fun. So we decided to change that up a bit. We are starting a little series called All About Boys- where we take a week and showcase some extra cool boy projects. This time we decided to place an emphasis on free patterns because many people want to sew for their kids but don’t know where to begin. Free patterns are a great way to get your feet wet without breaking the bank. We will be using Dana’s basicย kid’s tee and the new Oliver+S free Sunny Day Shorts pattern. I have been enjoying the sneak peaks from the girls and let me tell you, it’s gonna be fun! We have each picked a different theme to show how the same patterns can look so different based on how you sew them, and I’ll be sure to direct you to their blogs when they have their outfits posted. Make sure you come back next week to see what I’ve got up my sleeve.

We plan on revisiting this little series every season or so and can’t wait to develop it more and have fun sewing for our boys! In the meantime check out April, Heidi and Erin (who is sitting out this season but will be back soon) to see some sneak peeks!

    • Oh wow, if you’re already thinking about sewing at 9 weeks, I’m impressed ๐Ÿ™‚ But I do hope that you get inspired to sew for both of them…that’s the whole purpose of this series! We love boy sewing!!

  1. Awesome!! I actually really love sewing for my boy, and I feel like the number of available patterns has hugely expanded in the past two years or so. Although part of the issue is that boy’s clothes are all about the subtle details, and while there are variations in shapes and cuts, it’s still pants/shorts and shirts. (Although I would KILL for a good overall pattern!) But by the same token, you can make an entire wardrobe for a boy, with lots of variation and interest, from just a couple patterns.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with here!

    • Yes, I admit that it’s all in the details but I do get a bit bored of only being able to make pants and shirts all the time! But, hey, at least I can customize to my heart’s content ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad to have you follow along with us!
